How to fix printing label issue

Problem

If you notice a significant delay when trying to print your labels, or if the printer is producing unwanted duplicates, it is most likely due to a recent update in Google Chrome which is blocking unencrypted traffic in HTTPS websites like GrowerIQ to a device in a local area network (LAN). Unfortunately, Zebra printers have difficulty working with encrypted traffic like HTTPS.

Solution

We are working to find alternative ways to make label printing work again as it used to before Google Chrome's update. We will let you know when we have found a permanent solution.

While we do that, we advise you to SWITCH TO FIREFOX BROWSER instead and configure some settings in a specific way.

Changing Firefox Settings

Unencrypted printer information is, by default, blocked by the browser. You will need to add an exception to accept this kind of traffic for GrowerIQ only.

Note: Only the label content will sent to the printers using HTTP instead of HTTPS, while everything else will continue to use HTTPS encryption.

  1. Click the button near the top-right corner of the window to go to Firefox Settings.

  2. Click Privacy & Security on the left pane.

  3. Scroll down to the HTTPS-Only Mode section and click Manage Exceptions.

  4. Paste your GrowerIQ URL into the address field and click Turn Off.

  5. Click Save Changes.

Checking If HTTPS-Only Mode Is Off

Log into GrowerIQ. On the navigation bar on the left side of the URL there is a lock icon.

Click the lock icon and turn off HTTPS-Only Mode. The lock icon should now be crossed out.
